DOWEN COLLEGE LAGOS
Dear Parents / Guardians,
END OF CHRISTMAS TERM 2016 NEWSLETTER
We have come to the end of the Christmas term of 2016 /2017 session and significantly the end of the year 2016. What can we render unto God but hearts full of praise and gratitude.
We are happy to inform you that both staff and students have redoubled their efforts in the pursuit of excellence. We are not resting on our oars. We shall continue to strive hard TO BE THE BEST.
Our examination classes (JS3and SS 3 students) have fully completed their schemes and done the first Mock examination all in readiness for the forth coming public examination. The place of home – school collaboration in getting the students ready for these examinations (Checkpoint and BECE for Junior School, WASSCE and IGCSE for Senior School) cannot be over – emphasized.
We advise that all their subject notebooks for JS 1 / JS 2 and SS 1 / SS 2 respectively should be put together ready for inspection on resumption. Registration for these examinations has commenced and will soon be done with early January, 2017.
Please be informed that the final mock examination for SS 3 students shall start Monday January 16, 2017 (a week after resumption). Copies of time-table have been given out to students. This will afford us all the opportunity of having enough time for feedback with weekly evaluation observed to keep them on their toes. There should not be any dull moment during the vacation. However, we have not opened any extension classes during this Christmas break. This is to allow them do intensive revisional work on their own.
JUNIOR SCHOOL – CHECKPOINT (APRIL 2017) and BECE (APRIL / MAY 2017)
SENIOR SCHOOL - WASSCE (March / May 2017 and IGCSE (APRIL / JUNE 2017)
Please save the following dates for those writing SAT, TOEFL and IELTS
SAT - SATURDAY JANUARY 21, 2017
TOEFL - FRIDAY FEBRUARY 3RD, 2017
IELTS - SATURDAY FEBRUARY 11, 2017
The competition out there is very keen; nobody can afford to settle for anything less than EXCELLENCE. According to Zig Zigler, “The most bored and miserable people I know are those who are drifting along with no worthwhile objectives in mind”. Hence the need to give our students directions with set “tall achievable objectives”. Be reminded that we are committed to the arduous task of maintaining academic excellence and high moral integrity in our students. Let us all have our focus on this.
